About the Department

The department of Economics started with B.A. Economics during the academic year 2014-2015, and B.A. Economics Tamil medium from 2018. M.A. Economics started during the academic year 2017-18. M.Phil and P.hD in economics from 2018 onwards. The Department offers a under graduate B.A, (three years) post graduate M.A. (two years), M.Phil, (one Year) and P.hD. At present 170 women students are studying in B.A economics Tamil and English medium), 21 students are studying M.A economics, and one scholar is doing M.Phil Economics. Presently the department .functioning with 6 eminent Assistant professors and are specialized with Environmental economics, Finance, Agriculture and rural development and women development.

The visions is to exploring Indian economics system and accordingly provide policy suggestions through research and development activities.

The mission is to groom the students’ face various competitive examswith the context and secondary is to teach ethical values to adopt with their society.

" It has aim to provide high quality higher education for backward and unprivileged people about economics and life skills since its initiation.Most of our department students are coming from backward villages and their family depends on agriculture sector for their main livelihood though, providing quality higher education to the downtrodden people.
