About the Department

The department of Geography was started in the academic year 2014-2015 with 32 students and one staff member. One batch of UG students has passed out from this department. All the students of the first batch (2014 -2017) and the second batch (2015 -18) performed well and so produced 100% result. Master degree program was started in the academic year 2018 -2019 with 5 students. Both U.G and P.G programs are affiliated to Mother Teresa Women’s University, Kodaikanal.

Objectives

  • Students will demonstrate proficiency in Geographical concepts needed for a proper understanding of Geography.

  • Students will acquire the knowledge of Cartography maps, Computer Application and Statistical techniques in Geography, GIS and Remote Sensing maps. Survey of GPS and be able to apply this knowledge to analyze a variety of Geographical phenomena.

  • Students will exhibit their laboratory skills in Geography and can analyze the maps to draw valid conclusions.

  • Students will be capable of oral and written scientific communication skills and will prove that they can think critically and work independently.
