About the Department

The department of physics was started in the academic year 2014-2015 with 32 students, and two staff members. Two batches of UG students were passed out from this department. All the students of the first batch (2014 -2017) and the second batch students (2015 -18) were performed well and produced 100% result. Master degree program was started in the academic year 2017-2018 with 20 students. Both U.G and P.G programs were affiliated to Mother Teresa Women’s University, Kodaikanal.

  • To provide high quality physics education and equipping women students for higher education.

  • To provide women students with state of the art knowledge in Physics to equip and to compete globally.

  • To develop among women students, sensitivity to contribute to the betterment of society through knowledge in Physics.





Objectives

  • Students will demonstrate proficiency in physical concepts needed for a proper understanding of physics.

  • Students will demonstrate knowledge of classical mechanics, electromagnetism, quantum mechanics, and thermal physics, and be able to apply this knowledge to analyze a variety of physical phenomena.

  • Students will show that they have learned laboratory skills, enabling them to take measurements in a physics laboratory and analyze the measurements to draw valid conclusions.

  • Students will be capable of oral and written scientific communication, and will prove that they can think critically and work independently.
