About the Department

     Government Arts College for women, nilakkottai was started in the year 1998 to enable the poor and downtrodden girl - students of this area to pursue their higher education. Since then the college has been rendering laudable service to the student's community, not only in their academic activities but also in promoting their interest and performance in Sports and Games activities. The Department of Physical Education of our college functions effectively in making the students participate in various Track and Field events at the University, District and National Level. Many of our passed – out students are serving as police Personnel and in the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs, due to proper motivation,Orientation and training is given to them by the Physical Education Department of our college. Last year alone four of our students got selected is the Police Department.

      Whether the events our students participate, whatever the level they may be our students use to bag gold silver medals, shields and certificates in appreciation of their performance. To cite a few, in the year 2014 our student M.Nisha of Tamil Department took part in the National Level Inter-University Kabaddi Tournament and clinched the 4th place. Every ever ‘Form 3’ certification is being secured by more number of our students who excel in various sports and games activities. These certificates enable the students to get jobs in Sports Quota.

     Thus our Physical Education Department is very vibrant and dynamic in the service of the student community. With the able guidance of the principal and the sports committee members, the Physical Education Department is progressing along the party of glory.
